Auriel - ceramic
As with work in the other forms, Eleanor guides the sculpture to speak through it's own nature, rather than forcing the medium to conform to a rigid preconception about how the subject will be rendered.
For example, 'Auriel' (left) is based on a fine grained ceramic clay, fired, and painted with a white base, expressing the feeling of freedom, flight and purity. While 'Athena' (below) uses a more earthy substrate, and captures the strength and determination of an ancient Greek warrior woman.
While more prolific in paint and etching, Eleanor has produced a number of portraits in clay, including casts into plaster and bronze.
There is also a study of the eye in a series of paint and hessian on panel, made during an exploration into the use of texture.

As with all the work, nothing is better than a trip to the artist's gallery in person to best appreciate the quality of the work, or contact Eleanor directly with any enquiries you may have.
