Owls are often heard more readily than seen, the challenge is to capture in image, a creature that is more commonly brought to mind by the sound alone.

Featured in this category is a magnificent creation in oil and gold leaf on panel, the 'Blue Owl - Pipes of Pan', which seeks to evoke in the viewer a connection between the sounds of the pipes symbolised by the trees standing against the moonlight. The gesture of the dance pervades this work.

The more modest etchings of the smallest and most common Australian owl, the 'Southern Boobook', act more simply as a reminder of the rewards of a quiet night walk in the bush.
While 'Tree frog', might be the only chance you have to glimpse the endangered 'Litoris burrowski'.
